If all data access goes through stored procedures, execute permissions on those procedures should be enough. If the application also reads from and writes to tables, you need datareader and datawriter.
You can set up execute permissions for the account by following these instructions: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l.../ms345484.aspx
Hope this helps,
Imar

Okay
Stored Procedures? No where in your book do even remotely mention stored procedures, and you say that you don't use them. In your book you use lazy loading with EF for that, (which is really kind of more efficient) but yet here you are answering questions about somebody using stored procedures? Is that not outside the criteria of what is officially in your book? Had I asked a question like that you would have hammered me for it and boxed my ears without reservation.
Have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving weekend.

Just reread the entire thread and you'll see how it evolved from on-topic to the topic of stored procedures. To me, that makes perfect sense. It would have been different if this was a fresh question purely about configuring SQL Server.
I am not sure I understand why you're whining so much though. If you care so much about how future employers will perceive you, I would work on my online presence as well....

Potential employers look at social media websites like Twitter and Facebook not at stuff like this and if you are some stupid high school or college kid who posts pictures of himself or herself passed out drunk on the kitchen floor or on the front lawn at a neighbor's Christmas, New Years, Thanksgiving, or Fourth of July party on your Twitter, MySpace or Facebook page(s) that would make you look pretty bad. That kind of extracurricular activity has come back to bite quite a few of them, especially many of them that are looking for that first job right out of school. But I digress. I get better turn around times and better answers with the authors of Pluralsight for my technical questions. There is one particular Wrox author there that has been very helpful at answering my questions and has been very patient and understanding when I ask that author a particular question and has yet to lose patience or get out of sorts with me when I do ask a technical question. I will restrict my technical questions to that forum from here on out.

I am not sure I understand what you're trying to say with this. Are you saying I haven't been helpful? Check your head, then visit your profile page and check the number of posts in the Beginning ASP.NET categories and my replies.
If you don't think that's helpful, it's probably a good idea you're moving on to another forum anyway.

For me if I have a shortcoming it is that I just so happen to be very passionate about all of this stuff and I love talking to people in this field at every opportunity and chance that I get, even if sometimes it might be a bother to them.
|
I understand and appreciate all that.

It is just that you seem to have a lack of patience or understanding with questions that you don't like.
|
It's not a lack of patience. I repeatedly asked you to post in the correct forum. There's a reason why there are so many categories here at p2p.wrox.com: by posting in the appropriate category you make it much easier for *others* to find the appropriate help, now and in the future. You continuously ignored that request and kept on posting in my book's forum because you thought (I assume) that would give you the quickest answer. The will to help others is an important piece of being part of a community. Your inability to understand and respond to that makes you a bit hard to work with. That's all. Now, let's leave at this so we can focus on more important stuff

Thanks for the link
Thanks Imar! I feel very indebted! Thanks for the links. Your book got me through a tough spot. I suggested your book to some of my friends to get up to speed. One is half way finished now. I will continue to press them to give you good reviews on Amazon.
Thanks very much!!!
