Hi,

Regarding the two options, you use one or the other of the iso or the exe option for installing pretty much any software from Microsoft, certainly VS.

The iso is used to burn a DVD so that the software is loaded from a DVD drive. It is also possible to 'load' the iso as a virtual DVD drive, but how that is done depends on your operating system. I can't really explain that process here, but you could search for it. Most operating systems have an accessory program that will burn the iso to DVD for you. That also you will have to investigate if you aren't sure what to do.

The exe on the other hand is simply executed.

However, when you state that it ran all night, that raises a concern. What type of PC (CPU, processor speed, RAM, hard drive, etc.) are you using? Also, what operating system?

When it takes that long to load, it suggests your PC may be underpowered or have other problems. This may have a major impact on your success with this software and following the exercises in the book.

Best Regards,
Alan
