Default Setting Up PHP to Use E-mail

Hi, I'm having a problem with setting up PHP to use e-mail. I have tryed with "Mailtraq" and not succeded. In the book (chapter 10) is the link for more information that can help me to solve the problem, but link doesn't works!
It is: http://us3.php.net/manual/en/ref.mail.php.
Does anyone knows where can I find the manual?

please use phpmailer,which is more powerful.
