Default Parameters in Subscriptions

I have seen this question posed in other posts, but I have not seen the answer yet:

When I want the parameters for a subscription, or the default parameters for a report, to be variables based on todays date (such as a start date of the first of the month and an end date of yesterday, how do I enter them in Report Manager?
