horizontal scrolling is generally undesirable and is a default browser behavior. Without seeing your code, my guess is that safari is rendering your page differently enough that it fits in the browser. It could also be a mac issue in that I know several mac guys who keep their screen resolution turned up much further than is typical for a PC. This would yield a larger browser size on screen and allow your page to fit on a mac browser where it doesn't on a PC.
