can apache run properly without a network card?
I removed iis first and then installed apache, so I think it's not because of port.
my network card is actually a USB wireless adapter. I dont know if it counts.

I wouldn't be surprised if the USB device was causing the problem, but I am not sure. You should check the requirements section of the installation documentation for IIS to be sure.
What did ipconfig tell you?

I told me alot, and I dont know which information is more important.

Windows IP Configration

Primary DNS suffix.............. (empty here)
Node Type................ Unknown
Ip routing enabled...........No
Wins Prxoy Enabled...........No

Ethernet Adapter Wireless Network Connection:

Connection-specified DNS suffix.... (Empty)
Description..................( wireless adapter's name)
Physical Address.............(6 two digits hex numbers)
Dhcp enabled................ Yes
Autoconfigration enabled......Yes
Ip Address......................My ip
Subnet mask....................255.255.255.0
the following three-default gateway,DHCP server,DNS server has the same ip. I'd provide if you need them.

Is My ip a local IP address (like 10.*, 192.*, 127.*) or an Internet IP address?

Did you try all possible combinations? e.g.:

http://127.0.0.1
http://My ip (whatever the address is)
http://MachineName (the name of your machine)

Also, did you check out the event log?

er the problem is just fixed...
I uninstalled IIS last day and installed apache, since I thought no one would help to fix the problem.. and then today I installed it again, and it works well....
sorry for troubling but seriously it didnt work well...hmm...
ya and now I have a iis with asp and php. Thanks alot!!
