Default Beginning Dreamweaver MX 2004 - Page 73

Hi, sorry for what must be a very simple issue, but I'm totally baffled. When I insert the final image in the table (botright.gif) the right hand side is slightly out of alignment. Both the botttom images are set at 50%, but the bottom right gif looks like it has been pushed outwards, Am I missing something very obvious here?
Here's the code from the affected area. As far as I can tell my coding is the same as the downloaded image's.

</table>
<table width="100%" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" background="images/botbkg.gif">
  <tr>
    <td width="50%"><img src="images/botleft.gif" width="235" height="40" /></td>
    <td width="50%"><div align="right"><img src="images/botright.gif" width="69" height="40" /></div></td>
  </tr>

I'd appreciate whatever advice anyone can give me here so I can finally move on to chapter 3.

Here's a link - http://www.geocities.com/smerdyakov_sadhun/
the only modification I've made here is to take the images out of their folder for the purpose of uploading - Hope this helps. ColinS

Hi ColinS

I didn't have the time to give this a thorough look, so I may be recommending something that isn't supposed to work. However, you can fix the design by changing the width of the rightsidebkg.gif image, like this:

<td width="1%" background="rightsidebkg.gif"><img height=31 width="24" src="rightsidebkg.gif" width=28></td>

The width used to be 28, but since the red part of rightsidebkg.gif is only 24 px wide, changing the red side to 24 seems to fix the problem.

HtH,

Imar

Hi Imar, thanks very much - sorted...and I may even have learned something in the process.

A common mistake people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.
