I'm trying to record a macro in my Personal Macro Workbook so it is available on a global level, but whenever I try to save, it states "Personal Macro Workbook in the startup folder must stay open for recording. Unable to record." Any ideas on how I can open it? Thanks.

Personal.xlb will be found in the startup path

For Vista
C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Exce l\XLSTART

For XP and before
C:\Documents and Settings\<USERNAME>\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART

you can also search for the folder 'XLSTART'

Any Excel file you place it in this folder will be opened on every instance of Excel automatically

Normally, Personal file will not be there. You can either create a new workbook and save it in the folder or allow the Excel to create a workbook for you by recording a macro in Personal.xlb directly
