Hi, just bought "Beginning Java Server Pages".

I was following the instructions from the book to load tomcat on my windows system.

There are some major differences between what the book say & Apache website.(They must have changed since the book was published.)

This is what i did....
Under the Download Link on http://tomcat.apache.org/ , I clicked on Tomcat 5.5.


It gave me options to download these files....

Binary Distributions
Core:
zip (pgp, md5)
tar.gz (pgp, md5)
Windows Service Installer (pgp, md5)

Deployer:
zip (pgp, md5)
tar.gz (pgp, md5)

Embedded:
zip (pgp, md5)
tar.gz (pgp, md5)

Administration Web Application:

tar.gz (pgp, md5)

JDK 1.4 Compatability Package:

tar.gz (pgp, md5)

Documentation (Already Included in Core Downloads):

I downloaded Windows Service Installer.But it is not working.
I already have thse things on my system.
(1)jdk-6u5-windows-i586-p
(2)jre-6u5-windows-i586-p-s
(3)java_ee_sdk-5_05-windows-nojdk

Can you post the error log of the tomcat or what error exactly you are getting?
