Default VB / Lotus - Mark messages as read/unread

I'm running VB6 and Notes r6 and have a routine that checks the inbox for mails with a particular subject heading and then processes (calls a stored proc with the contents of the attachment) the mail.

In the Notes GUI/client there is functionality (on the Edit menu) to "Mark Selected Read" or "Mark Selected Unread".

After processing the mail I need a means of marking it as 'read' so the next time i read the inbox it does not look at these mails/messages. I have tried PUTINFOLDER & REMOVEFROMFOLDER but this only copies the messege to the new folder and still leaves it sitting in the Inbox. aarrrgh!!

Does anyone have any code to look at new messages only in the Inbox and then mark them as read after processing??

Cheers
