What are the ramifications when installing SQL Server 2000 on an PC?

You have to have the proper OS.
What are you going to do with the server?
It will run on a standard desktop with Windows Server. I use one on my home network for practice etc, but I don't do anything else with the "server" except some file storage. If you wanted to use one in production, you could do that, but you need proper bandwidth and beefed up internals to really secure your data. RAID wouldn't hurt either.
