Default Standard -> Enterprise

Dear All,
I asked my server team to set up a SQL 7 DB Enterprise install for me, they apparently did this and then installed several other apps that make use of the database.

However, I can't connect to it using Enterprise Manager fomr my machine, the error suggests that they have installed a standalone verison, is there any way to get this registered or are they going to have to reinstall it all ?

Never heard of this, what exactly prevents you from connecting? You may need to type the name of server into box manually.

The error message is :

A connection could not be established to XXXX
Reason: SQLServer does not exist or access denied
ConnectionOpen (Connect())..
Please verify SQL Server is running and check your SQL Server registration properties and try again.

I know that the connection info is correct as I copied and pasted it fomr the DBA's email into the local settings and the settings on the machine itself, and it runs perfectly fine there.

Did you check if you have added the SQL server name Alias in your system using Networlk Configuration Utility?
