Default what language was Microsoft Word developed in?

Just out of curiosity, does any one know what language Microsoft Word was developed in?

Prior to 1985 I believe Word (or Multi-Tool Word) was developed using C since C++ wasnt released until 85, subsequentially thereafter I believe it was developed using C++.
