Default Issue with Lotus Notes

I have a little bit of an issue with Lotus, We have already found and tested the code to send e-mail using vb.net, not our users want to be able to set up reminders the same way. Has anybody done this before? What little information I can find on-line is saying that a reminder is just like an e-mail message however I can not seem to be able to find the time/date method to set the reminder.

Thanks in advance
