Default Import Solution to VS IDE

In trying to migrate some projects from Delphi to (C#/ASP).NET i find it difficult to get downloaded samples to work in the VS.NET IDE. Is there a book dealing exclusively with VS.NET or are there any decent referecnce points?

Is there a standard procedure for importing a solution to the VS.net IDE or do I have to create a new solution each time and manually update ISS to find my project?

Maybe I've had life too easy with Borland products.

What kind of solutions are you trying to import? Are these projects from other IDEs? I would imagine that it would not be a simple/trivial task to import programming projects from other environments.

I have downloaded some ASP.NET samples with all source files.
What is confusing me is that when you create a new project VS stores the project file in one location eg. 'My Projects' but the source files are stored under inetpub\wwwroot\project_name . However when i have a complete project i cannot seem to get VS to recognise the fact that all files are in one folder.

I have set up the required virtual directory in IIS but VS tells me it can't download from the webserver.
