Default Help with tables

I am trying to create a database for recording student grades and need a little assistance with my tables!
1.The students study 10 subjects;
2.Each subject has 10 descriptors which will be scored fron 1 - 6.

Am I looking at 3 tables (students, subjects and descriptors) or 2 (students/subjects and descriptors)?
The student's name, class, DoB, tutor, roll number, etc will be imported. Staff should only need to enter the scores for each descriptor, for each subject.

Any constructive thoughts would be appreciated

Cheers

You need the following tables:
Students
  StudentID(pk)
  fname
  lname
  blba bla bla
Subjects
    SubjectName (pk)
    Descriptorname(fk)
Descriptors
    Descriptorname (pk)
StudentSubjects
    StudentID(fk)(pk)
    SubjectName(fk)(pk)

I am not sure what your descriptor is for. Is this descriptor to track grades?
