I noticed one of your subscribers was having a similar problem to me, in that when they tried to run the application it would not let them log in http://p2p.wrox.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_...hTerms=bugbase

I had exactly the same problem, so I copied the application from IIS to the file system i.e C:\BugBase and it then worked fine.

I was wondering if there is any particular reason why it would not run under IIS?

I have noticed this recently in one or two applications, I was wondering if it is perhaps that IIS no longer likes the root of an application in the wwwroot folder, just the virtual directory.

The likeliest reason for the difference is the way you access the application. From an ASP.NET perspective, this:

http://localhost

and this:

http://localhost/AppName

are two different applications. As such, two different app IDs are created in the aspnet_Applications table. As such, you may be linked to a role in one application, and try to log in to another...
