Hi there,
How did you create the roles? And did you also assign the correct user account to the roles?
How do you browse to the BugBase application? Through Visual Web Developer, or did you set it up to run under IIS?

the applcation name is already in the code...am i suppose to copy paste the entire code or just include the application name attribute?i tried this and either way it is giving me error messages telling me the sqlprovider line is not correct.
1 more thing, i tried deleting the users in web application administration page, but each time i delete all the pre-set users, it will return an error message.
i tried login using both inside the visual studio and using iis....and both giving me this message under the password text box:-Your login attempt was not successful. Please try again.
could you plz help me?thx

How's that? What does it tell you exactly, and where does it say so?
And where does the applicationName come from? Did you add it yourself? Are you sure you added it to the correct element? You should just add the applicationName attribute; the rest should already be there.

What message do you get?
Please provide more details, or I won't be able to help you out. Saying "it's giving me an error" is not enough for me to say something useful.

Like I said, I can hardly help if you're not providing more information like error messages. Here's what I know works to get the BugBase up and running:
1. Extract the Zip file for the BugBase application from the book's CD or download file.
2. Open up the project in Visual Web Developer by choosing File | Open Web Site.
3. Run steps 1 through 6 from this post: http://p2p.wrox.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=43384
This works for me, and others have reported it works for them as well. Please try it again with the *original source* from the CD-Rom or Wrox site and see if it works.
If it doesn't, please be *specific* about your problems. "I can't log in" or "I get an error message" is not enough for me to help you. I need to know *what* is going wrong to be able to help you.

For the benefit of the archive of this forum, would you mind telling us what mistake you made? I am sure a future visitor with the same problem will highly appreciate that....
Cheers,

After reading this thread as well as others on this forum, I'm unable to login to the bugbase. The only message I receive is: Your login attempt was not successful. Please try again.
I have other database driven apps that use sqlserver express on this machine that work successfully. i've tried a number of chnages, but to no avail.
any help is appreciated.
thanks...
