 Hello good people,
I added two more AJAX functionality to my site, the AJAX Tabs control to the Default page, and AJAX Collapsable Panel Extender to the Login box after moving it to the Polls section, please check it out and let me know what you think.
Do you guys/girls think I am ready to start putting resume together and look for a job as a junior web-developer or you think I should stick with my day job.
Day job = Electronics manufacturing technician, trust me the title is misleading.

Thank you all.

Looks pretty official now. You might want to put "springs board" somewhere at the top.

As for your resume, here's some advice. If you plan to work for a company, make sure you have a list of sites that you were the primary or sole developer for--I would say a BARE minimum of 5. Most companies want a few years of development experience, and if you don't have it, they at least want to see a great portfolio of work to prove yourself.

If you plan to work for yourself, I would keep the day job, and try to get 1 or 2 contracts in my free time. This way you can evaluate how much you would be able to support yourself, getting your feet wet, but still having a lifeline. A portfolio would still be essential here of course, because these contract companies care less about longterm experience and more about "just how good you are for this project."

oooshola I will take your advice and add "Springs Board" on the header over the weekend. I am also going to try to find small contracts to kick start things, does anyone know a good place/site to find small contracts?.

Thanks for your time oooshola

Probably your best resource is Craig's List. Look under Computer gigs. You don't have to be local for most of themso you could look on the New York site as well as the SF or LA site.

Agave.com was set up to broker web builders with businesses that need a web site. However it looks like its out of business. In fact it never was of much use. I joined for a while and bid on a couple projects but in general the prices offered are too low to allow you to make a decent living. People often wanted a month's work done for $200.

Hello plb,
I have my website (www.cei-esas.com.pt) hosted in www.parcom.net for 6 months and I am very satisfied with their service and support. The price is 9.99 USD wich I think is very reasonable. I think it deserves a investigation.
All the best.

Finally, after 6 months of learning all this stuff, I get to put my own site in this thread:

http://www.dayinblackhistory.com

It's a history based website (black/African-American history), but with a modern/wiki-esque twist. People can join and "adopt" one of the default articles, or create new ones. This way the site doesn't stay stagnant, and will hopefully have lots of items for every day of the year.

I'll soon have polls and all that good stuff from the book.
