I like your stuff. The Accordian control usage is very nice. I also really like the Contact page enhancemnts. I think I will try this on my Contact page.

There is too much code to just give the quiz printing functions to you. There are probably a dozen SQL tables and views and many many PROCs. There are also dozens of ASPX pages. To show someone how to do all this would take a short book.

I offered to counsel people who tried to use SQl Reporting. If you make up a SQL Reporting solution I will be glad to give you tips and advice. There are a lot of frustrating details.

If you find the quiz making functions of my site useful - use them. They are free. You can make quizzes in Portugese and print them out. You might want to do this for a while before you try to do something similar. You may have some better ideas.

plb, you may consider your hoster company!

Many times that i try to visit your page I get:

"System.Web.HttpException: Request timed out."

Do you have your operahouse on webhost4life?

I can't login on your site either. I know from your previous posts that you are on webhost4life. I have just put my site on same hosting company but getting a bizarre error. My default page only displays blanks i.e. no content. All other pages work fine. Did you have the any such problems initially? If so any hints would be useful.

Also I read in one of your old posts that you had different voting graphics - STARS as opposed to BEERS. Is your graphics available. can I use it on my site?

I have a problem?

My opera site I thought ran just fine. I expect that the education site will have some problems because I am actively changing pages all the time. That means that the site is constantly recompiling. That means that many pages won't show for a long time and you may get a time out.

When I mentioned this problem before it was suggested that I develop a "hitter" program that ran through all the pages periodically so as to keep the cache current. I never got around to it. Maybe that's what I need. I would appreciate any hints on how to do this.

WebHost4Life goes down now and then. I seemed to be off line twenty minutes ago. If anyone ha a better hosting site - I'm all ears.

plb, everytime I came here I try to open your site and I have to way much time!

Nobody likes godaddy, but they have a million customers...

I'm with godaddy from one year without big problems.
(The only problems was about my inexperience with sql...)

Their limitation is databaseSize... 1x200Mb, or 2x200Mb.
And deny external connections to sql server db

But if you haven't any error on your page and the slow load that you have is their guilt then... They are much better than webhost4life.

It's up to you
Try to google something like "webhost4life slow down" and maybe you can decide ;)

Maxxim,

Thanks. I did Google and I read many posts from people who had exactly the same sort of problems I have had. I wrote a strong email to WebHost4Life. One poster claimed that he got them to transfer his site to a "new" machine and that solved the problem. He claimed that the older servers at WebHost4Life are screwed up. I asked for a new server. We'll see.

In the meantime I'm looking for a new hosting service. I'm doing the due diligence thing - reviews, forums, etc. The problem with these companies is that they get purchased and then the new management changes policys.

I would appreciate testimony and/or endorsements. I will look at Godaddy.

I would suggest CrystalTech ( http://crystaltech.com ). I've heard lots of good things, and they seem to have pretty fast loading sites. Their plans are GREAT, and they are actually have a summer sale right now.

Guys,

Based on you feedback I wrote to WebHost4life yesterday complaining about performance and they said that they would move my sites to a new server - probably today. We'll see.

It worked! My sites were transferred last night and today they run just fine (except for some bugs).

I have a longer post on another thread regarding this issue.

Hello good people,
I added two more AJAX functionality to my site, the AJAX Tabs control to the Default page, and AJAX Collapsable Panel Extender to the Login box after moving it to the Polls section, please check it out and let me know what you think.
Do you guys/girls think I am ready to start putting resume together and look for a job as a junior web-developer or you think I should stick with my day job.
Day job = Electronics manufacturing technician, trust me the title is misleading.

Thank you all.
