Thanks for the suggestion. However I notice that the link to your site is down as of now.

Since I complained to WebHost4Life and they moved my sites to another server I have been very satisfied.

plb,
ok :-))
but I was the only guilt.
I went on hollydays and I forgot to pay the monthly fee, so they turn my site down.
Now that I´ve arrived, and already paid the fee, the site is up again.
And it was quickly done, so, I have no complains to do.
Thanks for your warning.
All the best.

Here is my site:

It was designed for medical students and doctors. The website provides information on medical residency and fellowship programs in the United States.

Hello everyone,
OOSHOLA some of the sites listed here are very nice but Your site is the best I have seen in the forum, of course this is just my opinion but I am sure most of the people here would agree, the quality of the design is only second to the information it presents. Very well done OOSHOLA your site is now my home page.

BraderBR Your site is also very nice and well organized, but I am running out of nice things to say today accept that your site looks much better than most of the sites here including my own.

Thank you all,
http://www.cspringsboard.com

I can't tell you how much I appreciate the compliments. I'm an artist at heart (painting, drawing, etc) but I found out in college how much I also liked graphic design and making websites, and computers in general. Since then, I never looked back--the rest is "History" :)

Thanks for adding the site as your homepage! That's tantamount to the ultimate compliment for a website :) I've actually changed that button to "Bookmark this site" since I figured more people would acquiesce to that.

Thanks again--it's comments like these that keep me going.

I see you took my advice; the header title definitely brings together the whole site.

OOSHOLA you are very welcome and I am sure making your site my home page will only motivate me.

I am stuck here I don't know what to do, I don't want to keep working on this site you know I am ready to move on to something else, and I feel like I want to break up with the beer house, I mean we will always be friends but I want to see other books you know thin books, thick books and books with see through top covers I just want to expand my horizons, and you should write another book "Marco" you are really good at this, if you don't believe me just look at the sites that are based on your book.
I am just kidding the beer house based website is the first and only site I have created so far but hopefully it won't be the last.

Thank you all,

Graphical Presentation

Let's face it Marco is someting of a coding genius but he's no artist. The stock Beer House site is godawful ugly. The funny thing is that he recognized his artistic shortcomings and hired a design house to develop a better Theme. Alas he seems to have hired the worst web artists extant.

He should have hired the designers of the Day in Black History site or the Ski Site or Maggot TV - or any of several others.

Just being better looking than the stock Beer House site doesn't impress me that much. I like oooshola's site because it has appropriate functionality wrapped in an attractive graphical package.

There is something to be said for no graphics at all. After all Google and Craig's List only offer functionality. OTH there are many sites with elaborate and sophisticated opening Flash animations. Websites that Suck call this sort of thing Flashturbation or Mystery meat Navigation. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sOKDgrWSsTc

PLB,
I agree with you 100% on the design part but I think Marco is a good teacher and the book was not about design, that said I think Marco should get his money back from TemplateMonster it sucks big time.
My top 5 based on design.
1) http://www.dayinblackhistory.com
2) http://www.skistyle.be
3) http://www.maggot.tv
4) http://www.ecoelectricals.co.uk
5) http://weboperahouse.com
I also like http://customresidency.com but it did not make My top 5, Marco should pick the winner of this to design his next site.
let's see your top 5.

Thank you all,

A programmer time is very limited.
Marco bought template because he didn't want to lose time making a good design.
I work very with css and know that to make good design he can delay some time.

Nothing exist that says that the Marco is bad designer!

ooshola,

you should take a look at the MIT-Timeline control. Would be perfect for your 'epoch' based design:

http://simile.mit.edu/timeline/

A great example of it in action can be seen here:

http://carmen.eno.org/

just play with the timeline at the top of the page!!

Wow, that is pretty neat. It's amazing how that's not done in flash. When I get some time I think I might implement it--hmmm, where to put it...
