The VBScript with the InputBox runs on the client side, while ASP runs on the server. Hope you got the clue. Since you are trying to use this on the server side its throwing this error.

I believe you have used the client side scripts in your ASP pages.
There cannot be any prompt dialog in ASP.
Please try it in the client side programming....:)

Hi,
Thanks, i have seen how to solve the problem using client side script, the new problem now is that since the function only works with vbscript, it will limit the scope of my software to only people who have vbscript installed on there browsers which is not desirable...i may use a form in place of "input box" to get my "yes" or "no" choice from the user.

thanks a lot for the help

I may be wrong but im very sure that is a Visual Basic function and not a VBScript function. I have searched my vbScript .chm files and can not find it anywhere.

input boxes and message boxes are possible in asp. try typing this piece of code in if you are using VBscript

<%
    msg = "YOUR MESSAGE HERE"
    Response.Write("<" & "script language=VBScript>")
    Response.Write("inputbox """ & msg & """<" & "/script>")

%>

Hi!
Great to actually have an input box and it works, but how do I get the input value and is there anyway to *** a password input?
Thanks!

I do not think prompt boxes can be used to insert masked passwords. In any case to use the value in a prompt box you would use (Javascript):

myPromptValue=prompt("Please enter your value","Enter your value here");
