Bruce,
I went into my profile and changed my setting. I posted the message. I went back to my profile- the setting said "Off" again... I did, however, get my own posting.

Oops...
One little typo is all it takes! The problem was with the profile page. I just wasn't displaying properly. Something about needing to spell variable names correctly or something...
It seems to be working correctly now.

If you are still looking for a normal email list, I have decided to open up my mailman server to the community. Please visit http://www.aspguru.us So far I only have a few list created. I'll put up more as time and bandwidth permit. These are standard mailman lists that most all of us are used to using.

Haha, yeah. LOL.
I still don't get confirmations of my own messages, though. Do you get these messages regardless of the thread settings, or do you need to be subscribed to the thread first to see them??
Also, it seems that the "Check here to include your profile signature." default check doesn't work. I have set it to off, yet it is on for every message I write.....

You still need to be subscribed to a topic/forum before any mailings will be sent to you - including your own.
I'll check into the signature settings issue you described.

Just thought I'd add my support to those who have made the following requests. It would be nice to see the users email address/name instead of "Wrox P2P Forum Subscription" like it was on the old system. It would also be very beneficial to just hit reply and write a response versus having to goto a webpage to enter a response. I know I will be far less likely to send out replies if I have to goto a website to enter a reply every time. This is just more cumbersome and I simply do not have time to do this. Can we make it like it was on the old site? I hear a lot about "New Technology" being used, but it seems to be more of a step backward in some simple areas.

In response to your two requests.
1. one of the major benefits of this site is that you cannot see anyone else's email address. This stops anyone from harvesting addresses here. As victims of SPAMMER's spoofing our email addresses we think it is VERY important to keep people's email addresses safe and secure.
2. As was said in the FAQ. We understand your request but this is not a simple thing to do and when we have some sort of update we will make it here.

As I recall, you could send out the emails via Blind Carbon Copy (BCC) which as I understand it, does not include anyone's email address.
Or another solution, instead of sending 1 email to everyone, send 1 to each person individually, then it only has Wrox(or I would prefer the poster like the old site) and me, or the person you are sending it to.
I think there is definately a solution. I think your community will not thrive if we do not get back the mailing lists. It has been stated by so many people so far that you'd think you'd be asking "How can we get this implemented the best and fastest" versus "Should we do it".
From my perspective, I know I will lose interest in Wrox if these "New Technologies" continue to be a huge hinderance.

Your post before discussed seeing the email address of the poster as the From address rather than Wrox P2P Forum Subscription. That is what I was talking about when I said we will be keeping all e-mail addresses hidden.
As far as I know the FAQ does ask for members of the community to help if they want in developing the technology to do the replies. The only stipulation is that we will continue to use the Snitz Forum software.
