Default Lookin to start, need advice

So im looking to go back to school to make video games, currently im ..heh to say the least subpar when it comes to math. i have 4 sisters who are straight A students so in HS i just slept and copied their work, i made it threw alg 2 but didnt learn anything. needless to say that wasnt the best idea and now i get to make up for it, anywho what im plannin to do is go to fullsail. They say part of the course is to learn linear algebra as well as trig and calc... now remember i barely know algebra 1 so.. what im plannin to do is hit up the community college and take alg 1, geometry and alg 2..

So the question is this, should i go to the community college for calc/trigg/linear algebra as well as the beginner maths before goin to the game school or should i just learn trig/calc/linear algebra when i get there? the way i figure it... it might be a bit of work to learn how to program and try and figure out the math at the same time... does anyone got any experiance with this? lookin for some input as to the best way to go about it
-Skribbles

Actually this is a quite good place to post a question like that and it is by no means out of place. The post was well authored and to the point.

Unfortunately, I can not answer this for you as I am not a Game programmer nor did I go to a trade school that specialized in that type of programming. The thing about math is, it is ALWAYS the same, regardless of where you choose to go and take your classes. Unfortunately, being that you have poor math skills right out of the gate, I think you would do yourself a diservice by going striaght to gamming school and *hoping* to pick up trig/calc/and linear alegebra; if your fundamental skills are weak, you are probably going to have problems with the advanced math classes.

hth.

I don't understand the example of "you n your sister", but whatever.

What I mean by Math being universal is that whether I am taking Geometry in the USA or in Asia, PI will ALWAYS == 3.14. Yes languages change and the teaching methods in different countries vary greatly but mathmatical forumlas do not.

I suggest you go to the community college and get yourself up to speed on the math you need.

Now is the time for you to learn that nobody can teach you anything - you have to learn it all for yourself. Teachers are there to guide you, present the materials, and try to judge if you are learning - but you are the only one who can learn what you need to learn. A cook can prepare a meal for you, but only you can eat it. Unless you take it intravenously, but "Matrix" style learning hasn't yet matured sufficiently to be of much use.
