Dear Friends,

     I m at the end of my project now,i m facing a problem with package deployment wizard.My project reports are developed in crystal repots.When i m Packaging my software i m getting a problem with crystal repot control(Crystl32.OCX), if it is in packaging list it is not completing creating cabinet file.If it exclude this component it creating cabinet file and other supporting files.

     After creating cabinet file and setup.lst file i modified setup.lst file and i included the crystl32.ocx component.Installation is done but crystl32.OCX componet net is not being registered and i m not able to access my reports.Pls help me to solve the problem as soon as possible.

Let me start by saying that I am not an expert on Crystal Reports. That being said. I typically try to keep my installs seperate if possible. I would expect that Crystal has a runtime installer. If this is the case, I would have the install process be. Run the crystal installer, then run the installer for my application. Some of the reasons for this, is that if a new version of crystal comes out (that is binary compatable with the old one), you don't have to recompile or rebuild your installer.

Firt i don't know if it's possible to implement a Crystal viewer into the package deployment wizared.

But i can say you have a problem with a dependent dll (or several)

So i never got all of the crystal component (that are required) into this wizared. I made my package with the inter dev applet "windows installer" this is a pretty good tool to deploy your setup's but it is still buggy. (and on NT4 as default not supported)
But on some of your clients you will get the same dependency problems.

this is a problem with the PD wizard in VB6 (asumming you are using it.. )..

first of all.. if you dont have it.. get the last service pack...

if you have it.. my best advice it.. try to get a new way to deploy it b/c VB miss some of the files needed by CR and you cant even imagine how many files you need to run it...

and unfortunately you dont have a redistribuible version... :(

Yes Windows Installer will solve this problem.
And if any dependend Dll does not exist in the Installer Package,
you can easy integrate it !

But on the most of all clients you dont will have any problem !

I am having the same problem with a VB application I am trying to install in a Linux machine, using Wine.

don't install on linux ;)
