Hi

How do I get a copy of DB on server to my local system. I am getting some error such as null reference exception when i try to access the
db on server from my local system.

Can anyone explain what are the steps that followed in connecting to a DB in a C# web application?

Just register the remote SQL Server in the Enterprise Manager and start administering it, just as you would administer a local server.

If the SQL Server is across a WAN/Internet, then you will have to connect using the IP address of the SQL Server. In that case you might have to add a TCP/IP advanced entry on your client PC using the 'Client Network Utility' (Start -> Programs -> Microsoft SQL Server -> Client Network Utility). I tried your suggestion but the problem still persists.
My local system is registered to the SQLServer on the Internet and
TCP/IP entry is also added onto my client machine. But I am still
getting the same error. I checked the webconfig file and it is pointing to the right database. I don't know why this error is coming.
