Either I misunderstood you, or you've giving me quite an unfriendly answer here.

I'll be the last to say I know it all. On the contrary. I wish I had half the knowledge of the people around me. I spend a lot of time reading stuff and experimenting with new things, so I learn a lot every day as well.

What I was trying to say is that the information I provided is important in understanding and building web sites. It's critical to realize how a page that lives at the server is transformed into HTML and then sent to the browser. Without a clear picture of that concept, you'll find you'll have trouble building solid web applications.

I just checked the DM MX book, and the section I was referring to is in chapter 7, page 238 - 244 and onwards. It describes how dynamic web pages work, and how ASP is transformed into HTML.

Even if your code is the same as that from the download, it doesn't mean it's perfect and correct. The error I pointed you to is still an error, whether it's from the original source or not. You'll need to line up the function name and the call to it.

You may wish to file an errata for these errors; other readers after you may benefit from it....

You may not realize this when you post here, but supporting people through a forum is pretty difficult. I don't see what you see, I don't know what you know and I don't have the application or source that you have. I can only try to make intelligent guesses based on the information you provide me.

I am struggling with a deadline here and having spent the last two months in teach-myself mode, I am turning to you in desperation, if I am honest. I appreciate your suggestions and I am grateful for your time. I do understand you can't see what I have in place. I feel good about what I have achieved, and having got this far, feel frustrated when I hit a stumbling block (scuse the pun)

The last message from you, with regards to my message ending I learn something every day struck me as uncalled for in your quotes and the reply a little condecending . . . intelligent guesses are welcome, I need to sort this out myself.

That wasn't my intention. I was surprised you'd gotten this far, without this crucial knowledge....

This is my last piece of this big headache... I have altered this to match that of the function and all the site is working perfectly!!!! I have learnt alot doing this, but as I keep saying not thru the help of the book. Thanks for all your help, not my intention to sound off but I do strongly feel that atleast the workings of the site should have been okay. But I will know in future.

Hi Imar

 A late Happy New Year!

The site is finnished but I have been working away on another job, away from this one. I have the whole site working on my local machine using win 2000 IIS.
I have come to put the site on the main server and all that is loading is the front page, I think the conection is wrong C://Inetpub/wwwroot/mysite/mysite.mdb
obviously I need to direct it to the server, what might that be...I am using FASTHOST as my host company the diectory is /htdocs.... Would I need to change anything else within my site for this to work fully..

Regards

Mike
