Default Dreamweaver FTP Error

Hello all, I have a problem connecting when I try to connect to my site on Dreamweaver. I get this message:
The connection to the remote host has been lost. Click Refresh to reconnect.
After I hit "ok", I get this message:
A FTP error occurred - cannot get remote folder information. Dreamweaver encountered an internal data error. Please try operation again.
Now, if I uncheck "Use FTP performance optimization" under "Server Compatibility", I don't get that second message.

Now the strange thing about this whole thing is that for one, I uninstalled Dreamweaver and reinstalled and I'm still getting this message. Second, I installed Dreamweaver on my other computer, and it didn't work. Third, I downloaded Smart FTP and I was able to connect. Fourth, I tried to connect to the site at school, with their Dreamweaver application, and it worked, so I'm thinking it must be something wrong with Dreamweaver itself. I've already allowed my firewall (Comodo Firewall Pro) to allow it through (when I tried to connect, my firewall came up asking if I want to let it through). Lastly, that the guy that I'm interning for is able to connect, and we have the exact same information put in Dreamweaver. I've also turned off my firewall to make sure that it wasn't it, and it still didn't connect.

Other information:
I'm using Windows XP Home Edition: SP2
V. 7 of IE
V. of Firefox
AVG Free Edition Antivirus
Using Adobe Dreamewaver CS3

Please, help me if anybody can, I need a solution very soon (I'm working as an intern to develop the website for a company, and I really need to connect). Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi there,

Sounds like a problem with your software to me; not something programmers here at P2P can easily help you with. If I were you, I'd contact the Adobe support department....

Check the tool for Sites/ Manage sites.
Dreamweaver 8 puts extra letters in some of the text boxes for http in some of the advanced boxes. Mine often has "http" written twice as default until I correct it.

Also the text field for FTP does not work with a full FTP address like ftp://www.mysite.com.

Instead it wants to see ftp.mysite.com.

I just installed AVG Free on my laptop last night and today Dreamweaver 8 will not connect to my main webserver via sFTP.

I confirmed that port 22 is open for SSH (required for sFTP) and my SSH client is connecting successfully from the same computer.

What is really odd is that I am able to connect to another remote server via sFTP using Dreamweaver 8 on the same workstation.

I tried shutting off AVG and have the same results. Hopefully this additional info will be helpful to someone out there.
